5 Proven Ways To Lose More Fat In Less Time
 © Copyright 2005-2006

If you're looking to lose some unwanted body fat, this article will show you 5 simple, proven ways to shed more fat in less time.

1. Drink more water throughout the day

Water is used in every physiological process your body undergoes, including vitamin absorption, digestion, and waste removal. In order to make sure these important processes are not disrupted, you want to drink enough clean water.

Drinking water will also help you feel more full throughout the day, so you're less likely to be hungry and less likely to snack.

One trick to help you eat less during your meals is to drink a tall glass of clean, cold water before you eat. This will help you feel less hungry, so you'll eat less during your meal.

Try to drink at least a gallon of water each day. Keep a bottle of water at your work desk, in your car, and one handy at home. The importance of water for good health cannot be overstated. You can live weeks without food, but only days without water.

2. Eat five to six smaller meals each day

This will keep your metabolism running smoothly and efficiently. Eating a smaller meal every 3 to 4 hours will help speed up your metabolism so that it burns through food quicker.

Eating one or two larger meals each day will cause your metabolism to slow down. If it's not presented with food more often, it doesn't burn through it as fast.

Skipping meals altogether will cause your body to hold onto stored fat as a defense mechanism. Your body isn't sure when it's going to get its next meal, so it conserves stored fat to use in case of future calorie needs.

Each meal should consist of high protein (builds muscle), moderate carbohydrates (fuel for the body), and low fat (used for energy and organ protection).

Foods like chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, and milk are good sources of protein. For quality carbohydrates, eat complex sources like whole grains, cereals, breads, vegetables, and beans. Fats should be kept to a minimum and they should come from sources like fish oil, olive oil, flax seed, and whole fish.

3. Do three to four cardiovascular workouts each week

This is how you'll burn the majority of your daily calories. Cardio increases your metabolic rate, so that you'll burn more calories throughout the day, even while resting.

30 minutes of cardio, three to four times a week, is enough to raise your metabolism and help burn calories. Any more than that could lead to overtraining.

Choose cardio machines that get more of your body moving. the more you move your body, the more calories you burn. The Stairmaster, biking, and running on the treadmill are all good examples of intense cardio that will move more of your body.

4. Weight train three to four times a week

Weight training will not burn a sufficient amount of fat while you're doing it. Weight training will help you burn more calories and fat in the future.

When you add more lean muscle tissue to your body, you have to expend more energy (burn more calories) just to maintain that lean muscle tissue. So when you're at rest, even sleeping, you'll burn off more calories with this additional lean muscle. The more calories you burn, the more body fat you will lose.

That's why weight training is an important part of the weight loss equation. The more lean muscle tissue you have on your body, the more calories you will burn off as a result.

5. Begin to slowly reduce your calorie intake

In order to lose body fat, you need to expend more calories than you consume. Or simply put, burn off more calories than you eat.

Begin by reducing your daily calorie intake by 150 to 300 calories. Start cutting out extras like butter, cream, mayo, sugar, and any high-calorie dressings or condiments.

Instead, use spices or low-calories sauces to add flavor to your food.

As you reduce your daily calories, begin to observe in the mirror what effect it's having on your body composition. This will help you decide whether or not you should reduce your calories again or if you're making progress where you are.

If you don't see results after a couple weeks of reducing your daily calories, reduce them again by 150 to 300 calories.

This slow, methodical drop in calories will allow you to find the number you need to keep losing fat, without sacrificing lean muscle tissue. If you eat too few calories, your metabolism will slow down and you'll also stop adding lean muscle tissue.

Over time, you'll find the number of daily calories you need to keep losing body fat, without losing lean muscle tissue.

There you have five simple, proven ways you can lose more fat in less time. The more of these tips you use, the quicker you'll begin to see positive changes in the mirror.

Easy Hair Care Tips for Healthy, Shiny Locks!

© Copyright 2005-2006

Who doesn't feel better on a 'good hair day'? Sometimes they come right out of the blue - often just as soon as you make up your mind to get a new cut or color because you can't do anything else with it! Why is it so hard to get your hair to do what you want?

THE HISTORY OF HAIR

The mysteries of maintaining beautiful hair should have been uncovered by now, but for many women finding a simple way to keep their hair looking wonderful is as elusive as it was to women centuries before.

The desire for beautiful hair is not new. Ancient Egyptians shaved their heads and wore elaborate, heavy, braided wigs to achieve perfection. European history also abounds with torturous hair styles including the ornate, powdered styles wrapped around frames and horsehair which attracted vermin. All in the name of beauty.

Today, fashion still influences a woman's hairstyle but that doesn't mean you have to subject your hair to needless damage. Take advantage of the tips below on caring properly for your hair.

WASHING AND CONDITIONING

Hair is not a living part of your body. However, your hair still needs proper care for optimum health and beauty. One of the key elements to having shiny, healthy hair is to allow the natural oils in the scalp to lubricate it. The hair closest to the scalp benefits from natural sebum oils the most while longer hair can become dry and brittle from a lack of these oils.

Shampoo, no matter what exotic ingredients it's made up of, performs a simple job of removing excess oils, pollution and styling product build up from the hair. All of your hair needs gentle cleansing but it is the top two or three inches that is most weighed down with natural oils and dulling hair products. Concentrating the washing in that area will reduce the amount of oils removed from longer areas of hair which can be over dried from the stripping of oils and extended contact with shampoo.

Conditioning on the other hand should be used sparingly, if at all, on the top inches of the hair while concentrated on the ends. Conditioning is an important step to replace needed oils and provide protection from styling agents such as blow dryers and irons.

STYLING

Your hair will look its most beautiful when you choose a style that requires the least amount of heat and product damage. Protecting your hair with conditioners is key, but choosing a style that suits the texture of your hair will eliminate the need for more torturous styling tools.

Frizzy and dry hair can benefit from the application of silicone based products. Bear in mind that a little goes a long way and concentrate the product on the ends of your hair.

When blow drying keep the blow dryer at least six inches from your hair to prevent excessive damage from the heat. Blow drying in the direction of the shaft (down the length of hair) will create a smoother appearance.

COLORING and PERMING

Anytime you use chemicals in your hair you should make sure your hair is in a healthy condition before applying the treatment. Overuse of these treatments can damage hair beyond repair and affect the results of the products.

CUTTING YOUR HAIR

Your hair will look shinier and feel thicker when you remove dried and split ends. Trimming the hair every 6 to 8 weeks will keep it looking its best.

Taking simple steps to maintain healthy hair will put you on track to more 'good hair days' than you ever thought possible!

Reason For and What To About Losing Lashes
by: S.P. Bragg

Everyone wants to have long gorgeous lashes and unfortunately, it's usually the men that are blessed with the long silky variety. We have to work at it. And this generally means wear and tear, not to mention a few lost lashes along the way. So, here are a series of questions and answers that will make you more knowledgeable on the care of your lashes.

My lashes are falling out! What does this mean?

Normally, it is perfectly natural for a few lashes to fall out but if it is excessive, you might be doing something wrong. You MUST be gentle when you remove your mascara. Never wipe or pull at the lashes. It is also a good idea to pay attention to how much mascara you use. The more you use, the harder it is to remove and the wear and tear on delicate lashes can cause them to fall out.

Try to avoid waterproof mascara as they are the hardest to remove. Even your pillow maybe at fault for falling lashes. You could be allergic to the filling, causing your eyes to swell and damage to the lash area.

Are eyelash curlers harmful?

Everyone has used them, myself included but its best not to get into this habit. The eyelash curler bends them into a severe angle that is not natural, not to mention the possibility of breaking or pulling them out. If you are going to use them, be sure that lashes are clear of any mascara. Use
the best lash curler that you can find offering a thick sponge tip. Squeeze gently, hold for a few seconds and then release the pressure slowly. Gently remove from the eye area.

Are all makeup formulations the same?

You will find mascara that is waterproof and mascara that is water soluble. Avoid the waterproof on most occasions. It should only be used in special circumstances... like weddings or perhaps an occasional trip to the beach. It is understandable that you don't want to find yourself with black streaks running down your face but waterproof mascara is difficult to remove without tugging at
the eye area.

Is high price mascara any better than the low priced varieties?

Not really. Regardless of the kind you choose, it should not melt, flake or clump and you cannot tell by the price of the mascara how good it is. Ask your friends for recommendations.

What should I be aware of?

In a word, mascara that has already started to dry out. If you find this happening, take it back for a refund or a new tube. To prevent your new tube from drying out, don't pump the wand into the mascara. This carries air down into the tube, hastening the drying out. You should also avoid choosing a brand that offers a big brush. Having a large brush means that the tube has to have a
larger opening. Needless to say, this allows even more air to enter the tube. Actually, I find the big brushes are more of a hindrance than anything else making it harder to reach the lashes at the corners of your eyes.

What is the best way to remove mascara?

If you think about it, the use of eye makeup removers cause you to wipe at the eye area and you don't want to do this. It causes sagging and you already know how delicate this skin is. Instead,
use a cleanser that will remove it.

What is the best way to apply?

Upper Lashes: use a rolling technique starting as close to the lash line as possible and coat to the end of the lashes gently curving them upward as you go. Powder the lashes and reapply.

Bottom lashes can be a little more tricky. You have to hold the wand perpendicular to the eye and parallel to the lashes. This prevents mascara from marring below the eye. It also allows you to hit the corners of the eyes using this technique. And be sure to DO the lower lashes. It looks odd if you ignore the lower and just darken the upper lashes. On a last note, save an old brush that has been well cleaned to remove any clumps that occur and to separate lashes.

Are there any dangers involved with the use of mascara?

Definitely....in a word, bacteria. It is extremely important to toss out mascara after 4 months use but if there is an unusual odor coming from the tube before the throw away date, discard immediately. Bacteria contaminants found on the applicators and in the product can and have lead to severe eye damage, even blindness. Actually there are several cases on record that indicate that this isn't an isolated case or two.

What causes mascara to flake?

It usually means that it is too old. Throw away immediately.

How do you stop your mascara from melting?

There is a mascara product on the market that is perfectly clear. After you apply your mascara, seal it with this product and the melting does not occur. Actually, you can get even more mileage out of the clear mascara by using it to control ruly brows. Holds them in place nicely and is not visible.
